Hey Jem, I am truly struggling in the jacket department - as I do at the start of every winter. I currently have a black "biker" jacket and a green parka, but I'm looking for an in-between. Would you be able to provide some inspiration/guidance?

Hello lovely!

Don't worry, I am always the same every time winter comes around. I search and search for the perfect winter coat, and by the time I've found one its almost the end of the season! I love that you already have two classics, and definitely 'must have' winter jackets in your collection. To me, the answer to your problem is that you need a winter cape coat

A winter cape, for those that are unaware is a jacket style coat that has slits for sleeves that allows the arms to hang freely outside of the garment... AND, it is autumn/winter's hottest trend at the moment. What I love about the cape coat is that its super versatile, trans-seasonal and it comes in a large variety of styles, shapes, colours and fabrics. Check out some of my favourites below:

Sass and Bide The Snowbird Long Caplet

This Sass and Bide caplet is simply to die for! It features a textured wool blend structure, with an inbuilt waistcoat with a deep v neckline and high collar. Need I say more? It is available in both grey and black.

This gorgeous cape cardigan is made from a chunky ladder knit with a pointed collar and single button fastening. It doesn't feature the tartan print (unfortunately), as the picture may suggest!

Another Sass and Bide garment I know, but they seriously are the queen of capes! This cape features structure with a woolen style and built in waistcoat. This style is perfect for wearing on a night out!

So there you have it- the 'in between' coat of the season! I hope this has helped you!

Jem xx
