High street is simple a term that is used by the British to describe the main commercial and retail area of a town. High street fashion however, can be described as being the mass-market retail area- the sort of clothing that you would find in chain stores.
Predominantly, it is also a term used to describe stores that also interpret designer fashion. So, when you see me use the term 'high street' it simply means items of clothing that have been purchased from chain stores or main retailers- not designer.
What would you recommend wearing with a pair of combat boots? I bought a pair last year and they always seem to look too much like gum boots every time I try to wear them.
Combat boots! Hmmm that is certainly a good question, and one that I am very happy to answer for you. In my opinion, there is only one sure way in which you can rock your combat boots without looking like you're wearing gumboots.
Try the classic look. This means styling them with a pair of skinny black jeans, a long-sleeved tee or sweater- you could even throw a blazer or leather jacket on over the top. This is a really simple and easy look. Pairing the boots with skinny jeans will ensure that the boots look structured and less clunky. Personally, I think this is the best way to wear them.
What I find with most people who own combat boots is that they tend to overthink their outfit. The idea is to pair them with items of clothing that aren't over the top, so to ensure that the boots are in fact the main attraction. Think minimal styling when wearing them.

I hope that I have helped your styling in some way! Feel free to send me pics of your outfit to firstname.lastname@example.org- I'd love to see what you have come up with!
